Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 1, 2026 · Last updated: September 1, 2026 · Applies to safegearauto.com

SafeGear Auto (“SafeGear Auto,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website safegearauto.com and related pages (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you visit the Site or submit a quote or contact request. SafeGear Auto is not an insurance company; we provide free informational, referral, and marketing services that may connect you with third-party partners.

1. Scope and audience

This Policy is intended for individuals located in the United States. The Site is not directed to children under 16. If you are under 16, do not submit personal information through the Site.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

When you use our quote form or contact us, we may collect:

  • Identifiers such as full name, email address, phone number, and postal ZIP code
  • Optional vehicle details (for example, year and make)
  • Communications content if you email us (including at privacy@safegearauto.com)
  • Any other information you choose to include in free-text fields or messages

2.2 Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we may automatically collect certain technical data when you visit the Site, such as:

  • IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Referring URLs, pages viewed, timestamps, and interaction data
  • Cookie and similar technology identifiers (see Section 6)

2.3 Information from partners and service providers

We may receive confirmation that a partner contacted you, lead status updates, or suppression/do-not-contact lists so we can honor opt-outs and improve matching quality.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Process quote and referral requests and match you with participating partners
  • Allow partners to contact you about insurance and related products or services, consistent with your consent and applicable law
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Site
  • Measure marketing performance and analyze aggregate traffic trends
  • Communicate about your requests, policy updates, or important Site notices
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security incidents
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money in the everyday sense of that phrase; however, sharing lead data with insurance and related partners in exchange for marketing or referral compensation may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under some state privacy laws. We may disclose information to:

  • Insurance and service partners listed or described in our partner directory, so they can respond to your request
  • Service providers that host the Site, process forms, provide analytics, email/SMS delivery, or security monitoring, under contractual confidentiality obligations
  • Professional advisors such as lawyers, auditors, or insurers when reasonably necessary
  • Authorities when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards

Partners are independent organizations with their own privacy practices. Once a partner receives your information, their policy governs their use of that data.

5. State privacy rights (USA)

Depending on where you live (for example, California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with consumer privacy laws), you may have rights to:

  • Know / access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected
  • Request deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, where applicable
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information, if we collect it (we do not intentionally collect sensitive data beyond what you voluntarily provide)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights

To exercise rights, email privacy@safegearauto.com with your name, the email/phone used on the Site, your state of residence, and the request type. We will verify your identity to a reasonable degree before fulfilling requests and respond within the timeframes required by law.

California “Shine the Light” / CCPA-CPRA: You may request information about disclosures of certain information to third parties for their direct marketing. Authorized agents may submit requests with proof of authorization.

Do Not Track: The Site does not currently respond to browser DNT signals in a uniform way; use the contact methods above for opt-out requests.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We may use first-party and third-party cookies, pixels, and local storage to remember preferences, understand Site usage, and measure campaigns. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may limit some Site features. Analytics and advertising partners may set their own cookies subject to their policies.

7. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including referral processing, dispute resolution, security, legal compliance, and legitimate business records (for example, consent logs). Retention periods vary by data type and legal requirements.

8. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use unique passwords for your email and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized use of your information in connection with the Site.

9. Third-party links

The Site may link to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their policies before providing information.

10. TCPA and marketing communications

If you provide a phone number and consent via our forms, you may receive calls, texts, or emails from SafeGear Auto and/or participating partners about insurance and related offers. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of purchase. You may opt out of texts by following partner instructions (for example, replying STOP) and opt out of marketing emails via unsubscribe links. For calls, you may request placement on applicable do-not-call lists by contacting us or the partner who called.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we post revisions. Material changes may be highlighted on the Site or communicated by email when appropriate. Continued use of the Site after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
